Empowering the Teachers (ETT) is an education-focused fellowship introducing junior African engineering faculty to MIT’s cutting-edge teaching methodologies. The fellows leverage tools and skills they acquired through the ETT Program to reimagine their curricula and introduce student-focused, real-world problem solving and active learning strategies into their classrooms. By doing that, they create a new generation of graduates ready for the challenges of today’s job market. In addition, the country-wide network of ETT alumni support each other to drive change across educational institutions, enhance collaboration between academia and industry, and encourage innovation in Africa. During their semester long stay the ETT fellows network with MIT faculty to observe teaching approaches and discuss research collaborations.
